During 6-8 June 2016, RCSD organized the Research Methodology Workshop for faculties of Mandalay University. The workshop included lectures and discussion on
• Anthropological Research in Myanmar: Our Experiences and New Challenges by Dr. Thidar Htwe Win, Department of Anthropology, University of Mandalay
• “Community” and “Community of Practice: Concept and Implication for Understanding Social Assemblage” by Professor Shigeharu Tanabe, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University
• Theories and Methodology in Anthropology: Some Considerations for Understanding Myanmar’s Development Research by Dr. Chayan Vaddhanaphuti, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University
The workshop was a part of the program “Understanding Myanmar’s Development (UMD), funded by International Development Research Center (IDRC). For this workshop, five fellows under the program presented and discussed how they conceptualize and design their research with research titles as follows:
• Land, Livelihood and Change of Family Structure by Dr. Nyunt Nyunt Win, University of Mandalay
• Environment, Climate Change and Socio-economic life: A Case Study of Shwetasoke village, Kawa Township, Bago Region by Dr. Zin Mar Latt, University of Mandalay
• Community Practice and Production of the Brass Gong Foundries in Tampawady, Mandalay Region, Myanmar by Lei Shwe Zin Myint, University of Mandalay
• The Impacts of Ethnic Immigration on Urban Land Use in Mandalay: A Case Study of No.E-2 ward of Chanmyathazi Township by Dr. Hlaing Myo Myo Htay
• Monastic Education in Mandalay City” : “A Case study in Oakeshitkone Monastic Education” ฺฺby Dr. Kyu Kyu Than, Dr. Kan Tun and Dr. Pearl Khin
